Mint
10 CommentsJosh and Chris interview Founder and CEO of Mint Software, Aaron Patzer. Aaron is the visionary and technical mind behind Mint.com.
Mint is a free personal finance web application that takes about two minutes to setup that links directly to over 3500 banking institutions and is aimed at making your personal finance an auto-pilot adventure
shownotes
Aimed at making your personal finance an auto-pilot adventure, Mint will auto categorize and classify all of your transactions so you can see how much you spend on gas, eating out, Starbucks, gadgets. It will even email and text you bill reminders, alerts such as over budget alerts or low balance alerts so you can avoid overdraft charges or over limit fees for your credit cards.
The idea for Mint.com was born out of Aaron’s frustration of managing his personal finances with Quicken and Microsoft Money.
For nearly eight years Aaron would spend around two or three hours every Sunday afternoon getting all of his accounts in the systems and up to date. Having to reconcile four or five credit cards, checking and savings accounts can be a real chore. It became way to difficult to pull all that information together and just see where is was all going with those programs. Everything was/is manual. There are no alerts, and they don’t work with you and your money to help you find ways to save!
The Web 2.0 Show officially supports Mint.com and all their efforts to help the world make managing their personal finances an auto-pilot adventure!
